BILL ROMPF JUNIOR TENNIS FOUNDATION AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP

Bill Rompf and Foundation President, Bryan Geiger presented a $2,500 foundation scholarship to Taytum Rayne Jones at Center Court in Edmond on Tuesday, December 20th.  Taytum is the foundation's first scholarship recipient.

Taytum is a first year 14 and under junior player that is currently ranked #9 in Oklahoma and previously #20 in the USTA/MVTA, before sectional rankings were discontinued.  He is #460 his first year nationally in Boy's 14's.  He was the USTA Player of the Month in November, 2021 and helped lead his middle school tennis team to the Boy's State Championship.  His goal is to play D-1 tennis.

Academically, Taytum holds a 4.0 GPA at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond and is a member of the Edmond Public School's Honor Society.  His favorite subjects are math and history and he wants to study architecture and law.

Taytum lives with his single parent mother Starla Burks and his brother.  Because of changes made in qualifying for national events which now involves gaining points through more play (and less on wins), his scholarship funds will allow him to play more events in the MVTA and outside the section.  It's a perfect fit for his current needs and aspirations.

Keep up with Taytum's progress on InstaGram and social media and through our website at www.billrompftennis.com.
