Board Member and former student Vivek Varma is continuing his winning ways in national Men’s 55’s and has won another USTA National Championship and gold ball at the Men’s 55 US Clay Court Championships held in Savanna, GA October 4th to the 10th.
Winning 6-4,4-6,6-4 in the semi’s and 6-1,5-7,7-6 (7-1) in the finals with a sprained ankle, Varma won his 7th gold ball after being down 3-5 in the final set. Vivek had lost in the third round of singles, his first attempt at that event in seniors.
Varma’s next foray is hoping to once again make the US International Team and win the World Championship which he played in last year in Mexico City. This year’s event is in March in Turkey.
Many congratulations and much more to come from this former student from Chickaha, Oklahoma who begins play in the 60’s next year.
