VIVEK VARMA EXCELS - WINS BRONZE IN TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL -
AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN MEXICO CITY

Vivek Varma, former Rompf student and BRJTF Board Member, won two bronze medals at the World Championships in Mexico City during the first week of May. He competed for the first time on Mexico’s red dirt courts at an altitude of 7,000 feet – certainly a few miles, years, and altitude variance from his home courts in Chickasha, OK and his training at the Rompf/Summerfield Tennis Academy in OKC in the 80’s.

Vivek won bronze in both the Team USA 55’s and the Individual 55’s Championships, losing to Spain 2-1 in the semi-finals and beating France 3-0 for third place. In the individual doubles event his partner was Oren Motevassal and they lost in a third set tiebreak in the semi-finals.

Varma is ranked #1 in Men’s 55’s in the U.S. for 2023.

Way to go Vivek! And still a lot more to prove!  YOU ARE THE MAN!
